With the limited availability of legitimately produced turtles in Canada we decided to start breeding as many as possible ourselves. In 2010 we excavated a gigantic pond for our red ears and cooters, and a smaller pond for our maps. Since then, we've expanded the large pond twice to accommodate more breeders. Unfortunately, because of our relatively short summers our production wasn't what it could be if we had the facilities to breed them indoors and extend their season. For this reason we contacted a breeder who does have such facilities and moved our outdoor pond collection to their care as of summer 2015. We now have access to larger (while still limited) numbers of red eared sliders, maps and yellow bellies that have all been produced in Canada.
